Remember reader, always leave out half a dozen rotten cattle carcasses on the night of Christmas, otherwise Saint-Baroo will add you to its naughty list.

Copyright me, well, except for Christmas, I DO NOT OWN CHRISTMAS o.o

Christmas Break

Hi everyone.

As I am sure you're aware it is rapidly approaching Christmas time, and as such it's one heck of a busy time of year, and that's cutting out my ability to do these comics a bit, as such I'm announcing a 10 day break for myself, so that I can get all my affairs in order and spend some time with my family.

So there you go, sadly no more comics until the 29th/30th sort of time. But don't you worry, I wont just leave you in the dark. I'm preparing a silly little bit of a Christmas filler comic to keep you going that I'll get done in a few days.

Take care readers.

Sliding Scale 13) Blindness is lame.

Not much dialogue this time, frankly this is my first attempt at an actual battle-type scene, though there isn't much fighting going on yet, I guess that's for the next couple of strips.

I actually had a lot of fun with this one.

This stuff is copyright me, and stuff.

Sliding Scale 12) The Razing of Vicus

Double size comic! This isn't going to be the norm, mind you, but if I even think a comic really needs more pannels to make it work, then I'll hit it with an extra 3 or an extra 6. Stuff is happening! Woo!

As a side note, this comic was a pain in the ass to make, because trying to get it all done in less time than usual was quite draining.

Sliding Scale 11) Ooooh, plot.

So yeah! Actual PLOT DEVELOPMENT! I said I'd get round to it. Yup yup, it's all coming to fruition now. Also monster, big monster, scary obfuscated monster in a cave. Well it's only going to be hidden for a few pages so don't worry about that, I just want it to have a dramatic entrance is all, speaking of which I will have to work on that entrance a bit if I want it to look as good as I've planned. I've not had much practice with monsters or special effects.

Incidentally there's a certain subtle something of note in this page... just a little allusion to something that will be coming much later. I wonder if anyone will be able to figure out what it is?

Sliding Scale 10) Lost in Mistranslation.

A new font this time. The old one just wasn't working out for me so much. I felt that it wasn't quite as readable as I would like after the quality hit the comic takes after being turned into an image file.

Anyways, moar filler. I'm still trying to keep it comedy on account of not wanting to get paid a visit by a certain three headed guardian of Hades, and I feel the storyline might make it lose a little bit of it's funny, not all of it of course, but it might end up going a couple of pages without a joke, owing to all the exposition I might end up having to do. Ah well, serves me right for thinking up stories and shit.

Also, a bit more text here than usual I think. Almost a little cramped. Ah well, I might have to go on to make it a 9 pannel per page dealio. But then it would take even longer to produce... I could recycle images moar, but would that lower the quality moar? Gah. I just don't know. All these choices I have to make. How do the professional webcomic artists do it?

Sliding Scale 9) Now with extra 25% more pixels!

Okay so I was really unhappy with the quality of output my old system of editing was giving me, so I'm trying a new one, which is giving a noticably better result, I hope you'll agree. However, as a side effect the comic is 25% bigger and I don't even know why! Not that it matter much.

Anyways, I'm starting to introduce some elements of actual conflict into this comic, starting with our first 2 of many villains! You'll be seeing quite a bit more of these guys over the story arc to come, with all the comedy and drama I have planned for them. It'll be fun.

As usual all stuffs are copyright me.

Jolly times around a campfire were had by all. Now that Cyn is officially a party member, I'm sure everyone is going to get along sooo well together.

Random encounter! Poor Cyn, gets put through so much...
Oh yes, and Cyn is a battlemage type character, by the way. Conjuring swords and such is commonplace for Cyn.

Sliding Scale 3) Poor First Impressions

I think my arty-style has improved ever so slightly, mainly the hair isn't so ugly as in page 2. Kind of bound to be a natural progression since I've never done any of this before.

Anyways, so yeah. Now everyone has names. And Cyn thinks everyone is nucking futs.

Page 2 introduces the rest of our current protagonists, sort of.

Also, Baroo. Don't fuck with the Baroo.

Sliding Scale 1) Fate?

You might have to click on it to make it readable. I'll see if I can do something about that later on, but for now my images are big-ass.

A wild webcomic has appeared!

Hello reader, and welcome to the world of The Sliding Scale, a brand new webcomic by me, KodKod. I've never made a webcomic before, or even drawn anything in my life, but a flash of inspiration led me to do this, for better or for worse, stick along for the ride, and we will see how it turns out!

So what is it going to be about? Well... a knight from a stereotypical Western RPG game world who gets transported into a totally alien place... a JRPG world! ONOES! It's going to be a comedic look at both these different realms and an experiement into how they would interact with each other. I have a bunch of funny scenes planned out for you, and though I have to create the setting first, comedy will appear as soon as page 2, that is if you have my sense of humour, which I hope you do dear reader.

I already have a few storyboards worked out, as well as a general plot arc, and characters, so I have material enough to keep my going for a while, and I'm hoping to make this a regular thing. Frankly I can't give anyone an update schedule because deadlines bore me, but this comic I do for fun, though I am hoping to get into the spirit of say... one a week, maybe more depending on how full my workload is and how inspired I am.

Anyway, that's enough of an introduction from me, I'm off to post the first comic now, I hope you'll find this, enough it, and maybe even share it with your friends.

Take care now! -KODKOD <3
